bright little Vietnamese sandwich shop with a counter and a few tables. Hanco Tang, the owner sells the sandwiches, called banh mi, on warm, plump, crusty little baguettes ($4.25).
The classic combines spiced ground pork, pâté and a Spam-like Vietnamese ham product with mayonnaise and the refreshing crunch of cucumber, daikon and carrots. Sliced grilled pork, boneless pork chop, grilled chicken, shredded chicken or sardines can replace the ground pork and ham.
