BROOKLYN
Instead of Blue Ribbon Sushi Brooklyn, try Taro Sushi
Brooklyn is so short on great sushi that locals are often forced to fawn over any place whose fish doesn’t provoke a grimace. But Taro Sushi (446 Dean St between Fifth and Flatbush Aves, Park Slope; 718-398-0872), despite its clutter and chipped paint, would impress anywhere. Chef Yuji Sano, who trained just outside of Tokyo, wows diners with warm, delicately tangy rice topped with horse mackerel, and sea eel sprinkled with sea salt. Note: The pieces are bite-size; go elsewhere if you value giant portions.
